This is a self-paced online course and includes hands-on remote labs. The average amount of time to complete this course is 32 hours. Once you receive your access information, you will have 60 days to complete this course and its labs. This course will teach the student the basic concepts of data management within IDS. It discusses how to determine correct data types; how to create, manage and maintain tables and indexes; how the IDS optimizer works; how to manage data; and how to utilize the SET EXPLAIN feature to determine query effectiveness. The course is updated for version 11.50 of Informix, but is suitable for those still running previous versions of IDS. This course is the Self Paced Virtual version of classroom-delivered course Informix Database Administration: Managing and Optimizing Data (IX221) and Instructor Led OnLine course Informix Database Administration: Managing and Optimizing Data - ILO (3X221). Please do not make travel arrangements for this course. After you receive confirmation that you are enrolled, you will be sent further instructions to access the course materials. The self-paced format gives you the opportunity to complete the course at your convenience, at any location, and at your own pace. The course is available 24 hours a day, but lab system access is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You will have a total of 40 hours allocated to complete all of the lab exercises, so when you are not using the system, ensure that you log out to maximize ability to use the lab system.
